Birth

The first cry. The trembling hands. The way time both stood still and raced forward all at once.

Birth isn’t just about delivering a baby—it’s about being reborn as a mother, as a family, as something brand new. And in the whirlwind of contractions, heartbeats, and held breaths, those sacred moments deserve to be remembered in vivid, powerful detail.

But here’s the truth most people won’t tell you: you’re going to forget parts of it.
Not because they weren’t important, but because you’ll be deep in the work of birthing. And your partner? They’ll be holding your hand, whispering encouragement, feeling it all right alongside you.

That’s where I come in.

I’m Emily, the face behind Poppy+Blue Photography. I specialize in birth photography right here in Fort Worth. I’m not there to pose or direct. I’m there to witness. To quietly document the strength, the surrender, the stillness, and the storm. From home births to hospital rooms to birth centers, I’ve captured every kind of delivery—but each one is personal, sacred, and uniquely beautiful.

What does birth photography really capture?
    •    The way your partner looks at you with awe and admiration
    •    The tears you didn’t even know you cried
    •    Your hand grasped in someone else’s, tight and brave
    •    The moment your baby is placed on your chest and your eyes lock
    •    That first inhale. That first cry. That first look.

Birth photography isn’t about blood or mess. It’s about emotion. Connection. Story.
It’s about documenting the day your family changed forever.

I’ve had clients tell me they were hesitant at first—“Will I feel comfortable? Will it be too much?”—and those same clients now tell me their birth photos are their most treasured possessions.

“I didn’t even know you were there,” one mama told me. “But when I looked at the photos, I sobbed. I got to see what I looked like being strong. I got to see the love in my husband’s eyes. I got to see what I missed—because I was in it.”

If you’re expecting in the Fort Worth area, let’s talk. I only book a few births a month so I can be fully available when your baby decides it’s time. Whether this is your first or your fifth, I promise to hold your story with care.

Let’s capture what it felt like. Not just what it looked like.

  2. Cally Stone says:

Emily and I met because our daughters became friends in kindergarten. I was delighted to invite her into my home to photograph us with our one week old baby in our natural habitat. My house wasn’t perfect, we and we were in pajamas. It was so natural, unrehearsed and beautiful. I didn’t even notice when she started taking pictures because her casual conversation made me feel at ease allowing for a raw, beautifully realistic outcome of life at home with a newborn. I never knew I needed these photos until I saw them and I am forever grateful to possess these memories that often get lost in the fog.
